Pink Fish

Seeing this sweet girl in her swim cap and goggles brings back so many memories from my swimming days!
Alli loves swimming and we are amazed by how far she has come.
As a "Fish" she has to swim the 100 (4 lengths) for each stroke and she is doing great.
Saturday was her last day for this session so it was game day . . .
Alli's favorite is "Sharks and Minnows" and watching her swim with fins was so much fun.
She usually tells us she cannot hold her breath long but she proved otherwise as she was diving under and swimming at least a quarter to a half of the length of the pool underwater trying to avoid the "sharks" :-)
Watching our little Pink Fish turn into such a fish brings lots of smiles!
As a funny side note ~ Alli thinks she looks like a boy with her swim cap ;-)

Pink Fish is Graduating & I got fired!

From swimming lessons, that is ;-)
Did I scare you????  Gotta love my sense of humor!  I am still very much employed :-)
This week, I've been the one to get in the pool with Alli for lessons.
G and Eli had the pleasure of watching from the warm sidelines.
On Tuesday, I noticed she seemed to be touching the bottom of the pool so I asked her to try walking.
Sure enough, she can do it.
That was all it took and she was off!
Seriously, last night, she kept telling me to let go of her so she could do it by herself.
She was NOT happy that I was holding the noodle and I had to let go, which I did.
Yep, I got fired . . . and I never thought I would be so happy about it!!!
Our Pink Fish is moving on up to the Starfish class, meaning we don't have to get in the pool with her.
Of course, one of us will still be getting in the pool because the
Blue Fish has decided he's had enough of the sidelines
Gotta love that grumpy little face!

Pink Fish is back in the pool

On January 4th, Alli started swim lessons again at the SK Pool.  Although we've spent lots of time swimming at pools, she hasn't been in formal lessons since July 2009!  Because lessons are Tuesday/Thursday evenings, G agreed to be the one to get in the water since I'm typically in Boston on Tuesdays.  I had the pleasure of watching our 'lil pink fish on her second night of lessons and she was very excited to show off for Mommy & Eli ;-)  I was so proud of my little gal with her straight leg kickers and getting in and out of the pool all by herself with no problem!
She's not a huge fan of being on her tummy in the water but is getting better at it.
Toys and balls are the best!

Turns out that she definitely does better when Mommy is there to watch.  Lessons were cancelled on Tuesday due to snow and I had a CPR Thursday night so I wasn't there to watch.  Let's just say she missed her Mommy and wasn't too keen on swimming that night.

long time no blog

Guess life has been a bit busier these past two weeks.  Wish I could think of reason why but I can't.  Guess we just got caught up in life :)

Last weekend, we had another garage sale to get rid of the rest of our stuff.  Not as successful as the previous one but we still got rid of a ton and made some more money!  No Toys R Us for Alli this time, at least not with us.  She got to have a play date with Ducky Gramma and Papa that day and they took her to Toys R Us and bought her a brand new, princess, big girl bike with training wheels and a matching helmet!!!

To say she loves it would be an understatement :)  It took a few rides before she had it figured out but now, she's a pro!  She LOVES to ride around the neighborhood and gets going so quickly that she tells us she's "racing" us.  Seriously, we have to jog to keep up!  Very entertaining.

Yesterday, the weather finally warmed up again and we took full advantage by going to the beach (Treasure Island).  Of course, in packing our bag, we forgot the camera so no photos but I assure you, a great time was had by all.  Thankfully, Adele had her camera and kindly shared the pictures so we can now show you how much fun we had.  We went out after lunch and went straight down to the water.  Alli was being a pill so we put her down for a nap and let Eli play on the beach until he kept trying to eat rocks ~ silly boy.  We tried to put him down as well but he was not at all interested in the pack-n-play and we didn't want to ruin Alli's nap so we put him in the Bob (stroller), in the shade, facing the water.  He LOVED that!!!  Chatted and played with his feet for about 20 minutes, then zonked!

While the kids slept, G and his dad dug clams on the beach.

When Eli woke up, we put him in his little swim trunks and let him play in the little pool.  He had a ball splashing around with toys.

Alli changed into her suit and joined in the fun when she woke up. She had no intention of getting in with him but was happy to play right next to the pool and two passed toys back and forth ;-)
After deciding they were done with the pool, Eli ate (what's new?)

and Alli rode her bike ~ both were quite happy :)

We had a great dinner out there and both kids crashed on the drive home.  Guess all that sun and swimming wore them out!

Today has also been pretty nice so we enjoyed lunch outside and worked in the yard.  Alli loves to pull weeds and Eli thinks it is great fun to crawl around on the grass so both had fun.

We took a quick bike ride / stroll around the neighborhood before naps. As you can see, Eli loves to chill in the Bob :)
