Memorial Weekend

It was an awesome Memorial Weekend!

On Saturday morning, the kiddos decided to play Barbies together before breakfast.

We've been feeling bad lately not letting Alli have some of the yummy treats that she enjoys (like donuts or cinnamon rolls).  I was so excited on Friday when I was at Costco and found Dave's Killer Bread - Sin Dawgs ~ a whole grain loaf with all organic ingredients including seeds, nuts grains, cinnamon and just a small amount of sugar.  I decided to grab it and Saturday morning we sliced it, stuck in it the oven, added a little butter and Voila cinnamon rolls Alli could eat and the whole family loved!!!!  Yeah!

After breakfast, we decided to take the ferry to Seattle for the day.

It was Eli's first ferry ride but both kiddos had a blast!

Pike's Place Market was crazy busy but the kiddos had fun watching the flying fish and getting balloons.

On the way back to the ferry, we stopped at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for a caramel apple.

After getting assurance that it was made only with real, cane sugar, we got one for the family to share on the ferry ride back to Bremerton.  Alli and Eli LOVED this.  Each got two slices.  Eli devoured his very quickly and Alli took her time.  Eli saw this and leaned over to try to take a bite of Alli's.  We all laughed, including Alli!  He just smiled as if to say, "well, I had to try!"

After finishing the apple, Alli & Eli had fun "people watching" and playing with Daddy's iPhone & their balloons ~ a fish for Eli and a heart for Alli. 

We called Aunt Lynette to tell her we would be passing their house on the ferry and she came out to wave to us.  Despite the distance, we could see her waving and Alli got a kick out of that.

Once home, it was time for Eli's nap ~ poor guy was exhausted.  Alli went with me to Tacoma to pick up a new pair of shoes for the beach.  She assured me she was NOT tired and then slept the whole way there ;-)

Saturday night was an early night for two very tired little ones!

Sunday morning, it was off to church and then out to the beach house on Treasure Island.

Alli was beyond excited for the beach, she LOVES it out there.

Despite the fact that it barely got above 60 degrees, Alli insisted on putting on her new swimsuit and beach shoes and headed directly for the water, where she showed us she no longer has fear and got right in! 

I cannot believe how grown up she looks in these pictures, where is my baby girl????

 She then decided it would be more fun on a float and that Daddy should go with her ;-)

Eli was more content to stay on the beach and play with the rocks.

We finally convinced the kiddos to go up for lunch ~ hot dogs roasted over the fire, YUM!

Eli's favorite thing to do was play with the door ~ he kept opening and closing it while saying

"hi!" and "bye bye"

He refused to nap out there (expected that) so we decided to take a ride around the island.

Eli was happy to put on his helmet but NO WAY was he going to get on his bike.

He settled for riding on Uncle Z's shoulders for the 1.5 mile trek around the island.

Good thing Uncle Z is such a good sport!

We stopped at Uncle Wes and Aunt Bev's place on the way around

and Eli had fun playing with Aunt Bev's deer statue, giving Uncle Z a much needed break.

After the walk, we played some more at the beach, had dinner and then drove home.

Alli and Eli both crashed hard on the drive home ~ Eli didn't even wake up when I changed him into his PJs.

Monday was a relaxing day of playing in the yard / pulling weeds and going to Home Depot & Lowes.

Last night, G decided we should invite our neighborhood buddies over for an ice cream party after dinner.

Alli and Eli loved having their friends over and eating ice cream, brownie sundaes!

Thankfully, we were able to find sugar free syrup ;-)

 The kiddos all had fun playing in the backyard but Alli and Eli were not about to give up their ice cream until every last bite was gone ;-)

It was such a perfect, relaxing weekend ~ definitely need more of those!!!

More fun with friends

Most Tuesdays, Miss Kaitlyn takes Alli & Eli to her house to play with her little sisters.

Alli, Taylor and Lizzy are all 4 and have a blast playing together. 

 All three love dolls, dress-up, pretty much all things pink and girly!

I'm convinced that Alli thinks she is a Huber girl ;-)

Thankfully, Miss Kaitlyn's youngest sister, Ava, is the perfect playmate for Eli.

Although she is about 8 months younger, the two of them have a great time together.

They are even quite loving to each other at times . . .

Of course, Eli also loves to follow his big sis and do what she's doing whenever he can.

Have we mentioned how much we love Miss Kaitlyn and her entire family??? :-)

Neighborhood Friends

A sunny evening led to a car ride with buddies . . .

 Five little girls in the car ~ Wow!!!

 Six adorable and sweet little girls ~ we are so going to miss our friends when they move next month :-(

But for now, we are loving our special time with friends.

Our 'lil entrepreneur

Yesterday was our annual neighborhood garage sale and Alli's first time running her lemonade stand.

She got up bright and early to be at the stand when we opened at 8 a.m.

Looking positively adorable in her footie PJs and Mommy's coat, tasting her lemonade!

Her initial plan was to charge $.80 but we told her it was going to be donations only.

She convinced Ducky Gramma to make cookies and Mommy to make cake pops.

Everything was a huge hit and Alli was a great sales person.

When folks would arrive, she would exclaim "Oh, I have customers!"

Needless to say, everyone thought she was adorable and she did quite well despite the rain!

This little entrepreneur made $40.55!!!

We were very impressed.

Of course, it wasn't all work, she took many breaks to enjoy the cake pops . . .

 

 After the sale, Alli was supposed to be taking a nap.  This is what she was wearing when she "woke up"

Just call her Fancy Alli ;-) 

She was very excited to separate her money into her Give, Save & Spend banks.

Again, we were so proud of her.  We told her that at least $4 had to go in Give ~ She wanted to put in $12!

She split the remaining evenly into Save and Spend.

Alli's hope is to buy a new Barbie at some point.

A fabulous family weekend

What an amazing weekend we've had . . .

For the first time in weeks, everyone was feeling great ~ woo hoo!

G picked up a pizza on his way home from work for our Friday Family Fun Night

and we truly enjoyed it with Eli eating 2 slices and Alli eating 3, while watching Alice in Wonderland.

After dinner, we had fun playing "football" as we realized that Eli has a decent arm

and so does Alli when she works on it, when she doesn't the girl has one wild toss ;-)

Eli thought it was especially fun playing toss while sitting in the back of his truck, and showing what a tough guy he is, he climbed in and out through the back ~ everyone does that right???

Alli got tired of football pretty quickly and just wanted to snuggle and be sweet with her Mommy & Daddy,

which we LOVED!

Of course, we had to get a bit silly ;-) 

Eli turned into a wild man, running all over the living room and giving "knucks"

Best Friday Family Fun Night in weeks!

Saturday was equally as fun.

We went grocery shopping in the morning and the military base was having its outdoor expo with bounce houses set up.  Alli was in Heaven as she bounced first in a pirate ship, and then an elephant.

Poor Eli wasn't big enough but seemed to have fun just running around.

That afternoon, Alli helped me run a few errands and we found a pedestrian/bikers fair fitting kids for free helmets so Alli had a brand new monster helmet ~ she's such a peanut she had to have toddler size ;-)

Luckily, it fits Eli perfectly too so if she wants to keep wearing her princess helmet,

the new one will still get some use.

Saturday night, G and I went on a date (haven't done that in ages!) and saw Something Borrowed.

We were both in stiches laughing so hard ~ great movie.

Alli and Eli had fun last night too having a sleepover with Ducky Gramma and Papa.

Today was fairly laid back, church and hanging out at home.

No complaints though, it was a great weekend!

Jump

Last Thursday, Miss Kaitlyn took the kiddos to Jump for a playdate with her little sisters.

Both A & E had a BLAST!

Looks like E's favorite part of the day was playing with balls and he even appeared to be sharing!

Alli had so much fun running around, climbing and of course going down the big slide!

I just love seeing that happy little smile!

Mommy's Day

Yes, we are expecting a third 'lil fish to join the family this Fall!

Today has been a fabulous Mommy's Day!!!

I have enjoyed celebrating with my 2.5 kiddos and Alli & Eli were so excited to finally wear their new shirts.

We woke up bright and early to go over to my parents' house for some yummy omelets.

Then it was off to church and a quick stop at home to check out the new lemonade stand Barbie Pop Pop made for the kiddos ~ it was a HUGE hit and Eli loved scooting up to it for a drink!

This brought out the silliness in them ;-)

Finally, we went to the Clubhouse for a very yummy brunch ~ my favorite.

As soon as we arrived, the kiddos saw Uncle Z and Great Pop ~ life was good!

We were seated right next to the dessert table, which Alli could not stop looking at ;-)
Eli dove right into his food and at half the food off my plate as well.
After they were done eating, the kiddos had fun playing with Daddy's iPhone.

By the end, Eli had had enough and was ready for a nap!
Mommy was only too happy to provide some snuggles ;-)

Now, Eli is sleeping,
Alli is helping Daddy in the yard, and
I'm enjoying a little down time to catch up on pictures (I'm a bit behind if you haven't noticed!)

I could not have asked for a better day.

Mother's Tea at Noah's Ark Preschool

Yesterday, Alli's preschool had their Spring performance.

The Moms were invited to come enjoy the performance,

followed by cookies (that the kiddos made!) and punch.

She did such a great job singing and signing all of the songs ~ too cute!!!

Alli was so excited to have Mommy at school with her and I had the BEST time watching her performance.

After the performance, we enjoyed her yummy cookies and water.

Then she gave me the present she made me.
Funny story, Alli's bag with her present for me said "Mommy" ~ all the other bags said "Mom"
Mrs. Weaver, her teacher, told me that she had written Mom on a sheet for the kids to copy onto the bags,
"In true Alli fashion" Mrs. Weaver said, "Alli said, I'm writing Mommy because that's what I call her." 
To which Mrs. Weaver laughingly responded "okay."

Okay, this is where I admit that my tough exterior is all an act . . .

When she gave me the catapillar magnet clip and the handprint with the poem,

I turned to mush.  Yes, I even teared up as I read the handprint poem.

She's growing up so fast but I love watching the young lady she is becoming!

This was a PERFECT day!

Alli's thoughts on the Royal Wedding

Anyone who knows us, knows that we did not give two hoots about the recent wedding that monopolized every channel on TV for days.  Yes, of course, we wish them happiness but beyond that, we don't know them and simply do not care.  That said, as I was getting ready Friday morning, Alli came into our room.  I had put on what I thought would be the news to find out the weather.  Silly me, it was the wedding.  Alli loves watching our wedding video so she got excited.  I explained that the bride was marrying her prince and was a real princess now.  Okay, that made Alli's morning :-)  Here was our conversation:

Alli:  She's a real princess????
Mommy:  Yes.
Alli:  What dress is she going to get?
Mommy:  What do you mean?  She's wearing her wedding dress.
Alli:  (slightly annoyed)  No, what dress will she wear after she's married? 
Mommy:  (finally getting what she's asking)  Well, she's going to just wear normal clothes like Mommy.
Alli: (disappointed) Oh, so she's not a real princess like Sleeping Beauty.
Mommy: (chuckling)  Sweetie, she is a real princess, just a modern one.
Alli: Hmmm, I like the pretty dresses.

So there you have it, a four year old's take on the Royal Wedding and her extreme disappointment that the new princess will not be joining the ranks of these lovlies . . .
