Life is good!

We spent a fabulous weekend at the beach and I will update on that later, but for now, I think these faces sum up the weekend . . .

a very expensive oops :(

Yesterday afternoon, when the kids both got up from their naps, we went outside to play with Eli's squirt pool.  Although she knows cameras are not toys, Alli decided to grab our Canon EOS Rebel XSi and jump in the pool WITH THE CAMERA.  I turned around and saw that she had the camera IN THE WATER.  Needless to say, I freaked out a bit.  The camera is ruined.  The incredibly nice Canon technical support person (seriously, one of the nicest people I have ever talked to on a service call) said that once water is involved, there is usually no hope :(  I was devastated.  Alli knew Mommy was upset but being 3, she doesn't truly understand.  She kept asking G when he was going to fix the camera.  She has no concept of money.  I know it was not done with malicious intent and she had no idea that putting it in water would break it.  She did, however, know that it was not a toy and she should not have grabbed it.

Later that evening, once the kids were asleep, G and I talked about what to do.  Okay, I admit, I did my fair share of crying.  I couldn't figure out why I was so upset until we started talking and I kept coming back to how G surprised me with that camera the day Eli was born.  Guess I'm a bit sentimental.  We decided to buy a new camera and last night ordered the Canon EOS Rebel T1i.  We decided that since we were getting a new one anyway, we might as well upgrade.  Hopefully, it will be here on Friday.

Here is one of the last pictures I took with our camera (from Tuesday's fun in the squirt pool). . .

Seems so fitting that it was of this happy little guy :)

*** Celebrating the U.S.A. ***

Our 4th was spent out at the beach with family and friends and it could not have been a better day!!!

As mentioned in a previous post, Alli and Eli shared the bedroom when we stayed the night at the beach.  G & I slept on the futon.  It went great until Alli decided to start yelling (no idea what that was about!) at 6:44 a.m., which of course woke up Eli.  I promptly grabbed him and brought him to bed with us where he zonked until 8:45.

How cute are these two guys???  I must say though, they are both bed hogs ;-)

When Alli got up, about the same time, she decided to snuggle in bed too.

We managed to convince the kids to get up and enjoy some breakfast while watching Mickey Mouse.
After breakfast and getting dressed, it was time for a dance party :)
The kids were having so much fun!  So were Mommy & Daddy!

Once the family started showing up, we decorated the stroller and Alli's bike for the annual Treasure Island Parade.  Eli took this opportunity to snuggle with Barbie Gramma and munch on her necklace :)

We've been participating in the parade since 2007 and always have fun doing it!  This year, Alli decided she wanted to ride her bike.  I was skeptical since it is 1.5 miles around the island and she had to do it twice but G and Alli convinced me she would be fine.  Once again, they were right ~ she did an awesome job!  Eli was a trooper hanging out in the stroller ~ helped that we brought along a sandwich for him ;-)

Ready to head to the start of the parade . . .
Can't you just tell how excited Eli is for his first parade??? ;-)

We made it to the start of the Parade and we were waiting for the okay to go :)

Eli had fun playing with his cousin Cameron.  I think he was very happy to see another boy!

Here are a couple shots of us along the route. We didn't all get to stay together this year as I had to run to keep up with Speedy 'lil Alli and G and Eli walked with Uncle Z.

Our cheering section :)
We made it to the end and were rewarded with popscicles ~ YUM!
Eli had NO intention of sharing his with Alli but was happy to share it with Gracie ~ cousin Hayden's dog :)
The two shared smooches too!
The kids took 2nd place in the 0-7 category as the "duo of Eli and Alli Fisher"  We signed them up individually but decided it was pretty nice that they awarded them 2nd place as a team and have decided that's how we will sign them up in the future ~ lest one win and the other lose.  I would prefer to avoid tears on the 4th of July!  At least until they are big enough to decorate themselves ;-)

Alli was SOOOOO tired when we got back from the parade.  She went in the bedroom, grabbed pink blankie and told us she wanted to rest.  She stopped for a quick snuggle with Aunt Martha before hopping in bed, where she took a two hour nap!

The weather was nice in that it wasn't too hot or rainy so we enjoyed the rest of the day visiting with family and eating some very yummy food.

Eli LOVED the spaghetti!
We decided to take off after dinner and made it home in time for baths and bedtime.  We were all wiped from our very fun weekend!

fun with friends ~ July 3rd

After the Treasure Island 5k, we enjoyed Saturday with some college friends.  Tyler and Laura Nysoe came out to the beach with their too cute for words baby Julian :)  He is 6 months old and so adorable!!!  We were so excited to finally meet baby Julian, and of course to see Laura and Tyler too!

The Daddys and their boys ~ as you can see, they get a little more wiggly at 11.5 months ;-)
Troy and his girlfriend Brandy also joined the party.  Troy, Tyler and Garrett are fraternity brothers.  Alli took about 20 minutes to warm up to everyone but once she did, she had no problem asking ordering the guys to play with her on the beach ;-)

We lucked out and had a pocket of about 3 hours of really sunny, warm weather and took full advantage by going down to the beach where the guys dug clams and the kids played with rocks!
The guys digging (okay, digging may be a huge overstatement!) clams ~ notice the little helper . . .

Alli took quite a liking to Troy who was kind enough to throw rocks with her :)

After spending lots of time on the beach, it was time to grill up those clams!
I'm not one to eat clams but everyone else said they were great!
It was so much fun to sit around relaxing and chatting.
I got to hear some VERY entertaining stories about G in college ;-)

Laura and Julian seemed to enjoy visiting too!
G holding baby Julian while Tyler (aka Daddy) holds a beer ~ life is good!
Everyone took off around 7ish.  It was pretty cute ~ as the Nysoes were leaving, Alli announced that she was going with them!  Yep, she definitely warmed up to them.  She hopped in the passenger seat but looked at Laura and I and said "Don't worry, I'm not really going" ;-)  She is such a funny little gal!

We had such a great time with everyone and hope to do it again soon!

After they left, we put Eli to bed and Alli got in her PJs.  Since they were sharing a room, we wanted to make sure Eli was completely zonked before putting Alli to bed.  She thought this was great since she got to stay up way past her bed time and enjoy roasting marshmallows and watching fireworks (various neighbors put on quite a display on Saturday!)  We roasted Alli's red, white and blue marshmallows and they were Yum-O!

A perfect day and we managed to get Alli down for bed at 9:30 without disturbing Eli!
